Tennessee was nicknamed The Volunteer State during the war of 1812, as thousands of volunteer soldiers from Tennessee played a prominent role in this war. Nashville, which is the largest city in Tennessee, was founded on Christmas Eve in 1779.

The name Tennessee comes from a Cherokee village called “Tanasse.” Tennessee was the 16th state to enter the union on July 1, 1796.

New York was named by the British to honor the Duke of York, the brother of England's King Charles II. New York became the 11th state to join the union on July 26, 1788.

New York City is the most populated city in the United States and is home to countless tourist attractions such as The Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall, and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
