This Month...
August is National Wellness Month
Caregiving asks a lot of you, and it rarely asks at convenient times. National Wellness Month is a good excuse to turn some of that attention back on yourself.
Wellness doesn't have to mean a big overhaul. In August, it might look like drinking more water than you think you need on a hot afternoon, protecting an hour of sleep, stepping outside for ten minutes while someone else is with your loved one, or finally making that appointment you've rescheduled twice.
Think of it as recharging your battery. No one runs at full capacity indefinitely, and a battery that never gets plugged in eventually stops holding a charge at all. The small recharges, a real night's sleep, a walk, a conversation that isn't about logistics, are what keep you going over the long haul.
It can also mean asking for help. Respite care, adult day programs, and in-home support exist so caregivers can rest without guilt, and using them is part of caring well, not a sign you've fallen short.
This month, pick one small thing. Then keep it. The people you care for are better off when you're doing well too.
Other notable celebrations in August include...
Family Fun Month
August 7th - Purple Heart Day
August 12-13 - Peak days for Annual Perseid Meteor Shower
August 21st - National Senior Citizens Day
August 30th - National Beach Day

"A Practical Guide to Accessibility Updates for Those 50 and Better: Making Tasks at Home Easier" A case manager once told a colleague of ours that the most dangerous room in America is the bathroom. She was only half joking. At CareAvailability.com, we have spent years connecting families and those 50 and better with honest, comprehensive care information, and we keep seeing the same pattern: families wait for a fall before they make the changes that would have prevented it.
From our perspective, the goal here is simple. The right resource at the right time changes everything. This guide covers three categories of updates that make daily life safer and more comfortable: home modifications, adaptive clothing, and assistive devices. We also cover how to pay for it, because cost is the question we hear most often. Neither the home updates nor the clothing changes require you to overhaul your life. Most of these changes are small, affordable, and doable this month...

The updated CareAvailability.com search results page is now live, and it is worth a look. We moved to a two-column layout, with provider listings on the left and the map, filters, and related articles on the right. The result is a cleaner page that is easier to navigate, with more visual space for each provider.
A few things to notice: A) Sort options are more prominent. You can now quickly sort by featured providers, current availability, distance, or name right at the top of the results. B) Availability is simplified. Instead of a detailed breakdown in the listing, you now see a clear indicator of whether a provider has availability. Click it and you get the full picture, current and future, across all services. C) Google ratings are now visible. For all claimed providers, you will see the Google star rating and total review count directly in the search results. D) The map opens larger. The interactive map now opens in its own window for easier viewing.
If you have not searched the site recently, this is a good time to try it. And if you are a listed provider who has not claimed your profile yet, now is a great time to do that too.
