Mid-Willamette Valley Monthly Marketing Update - September 2021
I jinxed us last month with my enthusiasm to meet in person for network meetings. ARGH!!! I have sent a survey last Friday, asking for your feedback: should the Senior Service Network meetings gather in person or zoom- here is the LINK in case you did not receive that email.
Case Management Week is October 10-16th. I am excited that the 7 hospitals in Mid Willamette Valley will be participating including Salem Health, Samaritan, and Santiam Hospital. Click here for more details or to sign up to donate items for goodie bags or to provide lunches.
The newest Mid Willamette Valley edition will be out in a few short weeks. THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS. We know that the past year has been tough on everyone, and advertising may not have been on your mind or budget, but I need to take a moment and recognize that ALL we do at Retirement Connection (the printed guide, the 2 websites, the events, the network meetings, etc) is only possible because of our sponsors/advertisers. I hope you will choose to support those that support us. In case you wondered if it is worth it, we have a few new testimonials.
Our team is still crossing our fingers we will be able to host an in-person release party this year, but we will be making some changes to be as safe as possible. One change would be a local food cart rather than a buffet of food. Because a large percentage of our attendees work in healthcare, and the new state mandate requires vaccines prior to our planned date, many attendees will already be vaccinated. We will keep you updated as we get closer to the event (planned for October 28th).
Do you want to meet in person or on ZOOM?
As we navigate shifting mandates and regulations regarding the Delta Variant and the rise in COVID cases, we would appreciate your feedback for networking meeting protocols. In order to be mindful of everyone’s safety and comfort levels, please take a 1-minute survey to share/ click ALL options you would be open to...
Senior Service Network (SSN-Linn/Benton)
We know this is a moving target, but we have asked attendees for the feedback rather to meet in person or on zoom- we will make the final decision this Thursday base on the survey. Here is a link for you to share your option) For now please save the date/time 9am…. (we will let you know Thursday if we are meeting in person or virtually

Last year, our team delivered “Thank you bags” to over 1500 case management staff at 45 hospitals from Everett, WA to Medford, OR. More than 150 providers in several cities donated items to recognize the hard work of local case managers and we look forward to doing it again!
For providers that wish to participate, in September we will email a form with all participating hospitals and the # of case management staff at each hospital. Providers then select which hospitals to support and will provide the “same small gift” for every case manager at the hospital. So if a hospital has 40 case management staff, a provider would donate 40 items for that hospital. Some examples: the items can be as simple as a hand written thank you, may include a small $5 gift card, or just a cold can drink, or kind bar.
When thinking of your items: try to keep value less than $10, NO alcohol, NO perishable food items (fruit, etc), NO personally baked items (cookies, etc), NO glass (breakable coffee mugs). These restrictions ensure your donation arrives fresh and unbroken after being moved, assembled, moved again, stored, and delivered.

Additional Resources
There are so many resources included in Retirement Connection, that often a few may slip past you and may not be noticed. Did you know that the guide also includes:
“We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some have yachts, some canoes, and some are drowning."
- Adapted quote by Damian Barr
As I managed my own stress and anxiety, sometimes I do not show enough grace to others, and I can compare my burden to others. On my personal Facebook page, I recently posted an update following my husband’s surgery and many commented that it was “inspiring”. As much as I appreciated that- I am fortunate to have a great support system in place- that helps my boat weather the storm. You know what is really inspiring-offering help to others and admitting when we need help.
