Monthly Marketing Update
- June 2021

I have many many updates to share with you this month: network meeting updates, case management week planning, and more hospital events scheduled to name just a few things. Please read and refer back to this monthly newsletter to help you get re-engaged as things start opening up a bit.

Case management week is still several months away, but we have started the planning process. More details are below, but you may want to start thinking about your participation and your budget. In case you need a rough # for planning… you can reach almost all case managers in Mid Willamette Valley if you participate with all 6 hospitals.

For networking, we are still unable to meet in person at the hospitals for Senior Service Network meetings. For the next few months, we will stop hosting the Linn/Benton meetings, and instead, we will combine this meeting with the SSN Salem one on the 4th Wednesday each month. We will do this until we can meet in person. I know everyone is tired of all the zoom- ME TOO, but I still want to remain connected with you.

The Transitions of Care meetings on the 1st Tuesday each month for the Mid-Willamette Valley is a great opportunity to connect with the case management department at Samaritan Hospitals. We have shortened this meeting to only 30 minutes, and will start PROMPTLY at 11 am and will get right to business. You may want to sign in a few moments early to be ready. Please invite your clinical side to participate as well. We really want to see increased participation from housing, skilled nursing facilities, and home-based care services. Please tell your referral sources and even your friendly competitors to join us

Case Management Week: October 11-15th

I know it seems crazy to talk about case management week 4 months in advance, but we want to give you time to participate. Last year, our team delivered “Thank you bags” to over 1500 case management staff at 45 hospitals from Everett WA to Medford OR. More than 150 providers in several cities donated items to recognize the hard work of local case managers. Here is a 90 second video to “show” the impact we made and how we would like to do it again.

For providers that wish to participate, in July we will email a form with all participating hospitals and the # of case management staff at each hospital. Providers then select which hospitals to support and will provide the “same small gift” for every case manager at the hospital. So if a hospital has 40 case management staff, a provider would donate 40 items for that hospital. Some examples: the items can be as simple as a hand written thank you, may include a small $5 gift card, or just a cold can drink, or kind bar.

When thinking of your items: try to keep value less than $10, NO alcohol, NO perishable food items (fruit, etc), NO personally baked items (cookies, etc), NO glass (breakable coffee mugs). These restrictions ensure your donation arrives fresh and unbroken after being moved-assembled- moved again- stored- and delivered.

Nuggets of Knowledge

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. "
- Dr. Seuss

In high school I remember a conversation with my grandfather when I was upset that someone didn’t like me. He asked… “do you want to be liked or respected?” I asked him-can’t I be both, and he replied- “NOT ALWAYS!” I learned that being authentic requires some self-awareness, mindfulness, and self-acceptance. Not everyone will agree with you, but you sure will have a better idea of who does and why.
