Greater Portland/Vancouver Monthly
Marketing Update - April 2020
Thank you for all you are doing to serve our seniors and help protect them as much as possible. I am hearing from so many that it has been a struggle to work differently and with less connection; and many people are seeing the economic impact of this pandemic. But I also am hearing about the kindness, sharing, communication, and selflessness in our community. I am trying (key word- "trying") to focus more on the kinder side of things and some days are easier than others.
Now more than ever, our community needs to have resources and information on housing, care and support, and together we can help with that! In addition to the numerous resources on our website, we set up a new Coronavirus resource page, and we are happy to add any valuable content that helps and is not promotional.
A bit of an update on business...
we are in the last week to take advantage of the 10% early bird discount for 2021 advertising. Please know that we do understand the economic impact the Coronavirus is having on all of our business, and we do not take that lightly. I know many will not be able to reserve their space at this time, but I also wanted to extend the deadline to this week for those that will need and want to save that 10%. Please also see the list of resources below and a few ways we can help during this time.

Senior Loneliness Line If you or a loved one are experiencing loneliness or isolation, please call 503-200-1633
We know that you are managing a great deal right now with the COVID-19 pandemic. Our team is here to help.
Here are a few ways…
1)Corona Virus resource web page: We have set up a webpage at www.RetirementConnection.com/coronavirus to offer updates on Skilled Nursing and housing closures, community resources, and other updates. Please send me any relevant updates you feel should be included.
2)Events Calendar: We are updating our events calendar many times each day on www.RetirementConnection.com/events. We are including the originally planned date, shown as CANCELLED and then also adding the new date to help communicate as many updates as possible.
3)Care Availability: We have expedited the use of a new resource we have been beta testing. www.CareAvailability.com is a free resource for hospitals, providers and families to search availability without needing to submit person details, and it is free for providers to report the housing and skilled availability. We have added the ability for communities to mark "not accepting residents due to coronavirus, and also the ability to mark if they are accepting Respite stays at this time.
4) Job Postings: We have expanded our Jobs Board to offer more position postings than typical including hourly staff and job resource link. https://retirementconnection.com/jobs

Additional Resources
There are so many resources included in Retirement Connection, that often a few may slip past you and may not be noticed. Did you know that the guide also includes:
"Loneliness is not a lack of company, loneliness is a lack of purpose. " – Guillermo
Maldonado
I often feel that I am best when helping others make connections, and being a resource. Lately with the Stay at Home order, I am struggling to feel the same sense of purpose. It has made me look at how I identify my role. I am needing to shift gears and see what is possible online and with virtual opportunities. As my team has moved to working remotely, we are all feeling the effects a bit differently. I may be the most extroverted member of our team and I have had to ask for and accept their emotional support at this time.
