Southern Oregon Monthly Marketing Update- December 2023
Happy Holidays. These times can be joyful, or nostalgic, but also stressful. This season I am in a new chapter with my family because it is the first one without my husband. This means that I must create a new normal while remembering the past. I struggled even to decide whether or not we
should put up his stocking on the fireplace, and ultimately the kids and I decided that we should. As we placed ornaments on the tree, the kids and I took time to celebrate the memories, vacations, and experiences we shared as a family. This season, please treat every moment as if it may be the last- we won’t ever regret squeezing that extra ounce of gratitude from the moment. For those already experiencing a tough holiday season, I hope that you can find a spark of joy and not become too overwhelmed, but if you do- please share your feelings and know you are not alone.
From a business perspective, I am beyond thankful for our continued growth in print and online, and for my team that kept moving our mission forward while I took time off with family. Every week a senior calls to share how the guide has helped their family, or a provider gives a testimonial on how the guide helped grow their business. I am grateful to work with a fantastic team that is passionate about being a resource to the community. I appreciate everyone who posts events online with us, shares the guide, sends someone to our website for help, networks with us each month, and especially the sponsors who make our work possible. Please return the favor and refer to our sponsors whenever you can.
We always appreciate your referrals if there is anyone you feel we should connect with, and thank you for being a resource and sharing the guide in your community. Erin and I hope to see you at the SONAR meeting later this month, it is always a fun time to celebrate the season together.
Reminder- tomorrow is our Bi-Monthly “Transitions of Care” Zoom call at 11:30 PST (details and link below); the focus of this short 30-minute Zoom is to facilitate smooth transitions to/from the hospitals and allow hospital case managers to share their biggest needs and successes.

“Bad news early, is good news.”―Angus Brown
No one likes hearing bad news, but typically it is always better to know sooner than later. Whether it is a staffing change, budget cuts, event cancellation, a breakup, etc- the earlier we know, the earlier we can better adapt and shift course. So if you must deliver bad news, don’t procrastinate and help all parties involved plan for the future. Often when we are prepping the next edition of the print guide, we do not get a reply to several email and phone call attempts, only to hear at the 11th hour that budgets or priorities have changed. Giving bad news may
be unpleasant, but it is better when given early.
