Southern Oregon Monthly Marketing Update- April 2023 Anthony Bourdain said: “Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a Negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you do not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server.
Check-in on your friends. Check-in on yourself. Enjoy the ride.” I want us to translate this to senior care… Eat dinner with your residents/clients this week. Ask about their story and learn about the person they see in the mirror- not the one we see. Share stories of each other's travels. Make eye contact and greet every support staff member you can. Ask someone you may have nothing in common with what they are passionate about. Ask the staff member you don’t know out for coffee. Seek contact and get to know our most challenging client and their family. Enjoy the ride.
This week I am
interviewing possible new team members. I am always anxious about this because I love the idea of new energy and ideas, but also do not want to disrupt the current dynamic. Elizabeth is leaving us to pursue new opportunities, but we are thankful for all of her insights and excited that she will be staying on a few hours each month to support our social media efforts.
The guide is prepped for the printer BUT we have space remaining for 3 ads. Call/email me TODAY if you feel you missed out and we can try to make it happen. The guide is printed only once per year and we are the resource for Asante and Mercy Hospitals, the area agencies on aging, and the VA. Save the date and plan to celebrate with us May 18th at RoxyAnn Winery in Medford. Invite your friends/referral sources and join us. We have so many
reasons to celebrate this year!

“Skills can be taught. Character you either have or you don’t have.” -Anthony Bourdain
I am currently interviewing potential new team
members. While meeting with each candidate I always consider how they fit with the rest of us and how they will better our team as a whole. "We hire
character and train skill” is already part of our Retirement Connection Creed; but it is important that this is always more than just words on a page.
